Shoes and a Dress

Shoes for Dasia and a dress for Lammily.  I'm finally making progress on producing shoes I think are nice enough to sell.  So this morning I successfully created a wooden wedge heel and base that I am very happy with.  A couple more cuts and it will be a base with a regular heel.  I will still make some shoes with cork bases now that I've figured out how to cut and glue them better.  Shoes will be finally listed in my shop Wednesday of next week.

These gold slingbacks aren't finished.  I couldn't decide on the right heel and base.  That cork heel is just temporarily attached.  I will have a wooden heel.  Not sure if it should be natural or painted gold or some other color.  I'm open to suggestions from you shoe enthusiasts.

This is an A-line dress that I think works nicely with Chante's body type.

Here is the same dress styled completely differently.  I really like this style on her, too.  When I make it for production, I will make it so that it doesn't require a belt to hold it in place.  Now I'm off to try to make Lammily some cute shoes.

  1. I love the brown sandals!

A neutral or gold heel for the slingbacks, but leaning toward neutral as a preference.

Both looks of the Lammily dress are nice. This is a style that my mother would refer to as something she could "jump into."

    1. DBG - Thanks! I think I will make both a neutral base and heel and a gold one to see which looks better. I think the gold would make it dressier, but the neutral will be nice too. I love carefree dresses to throw on in the summer. Most summers I wear dresses 75% of the time. Not so much this summer. Too busy making clothes for Dasia and not shopping for myself.

  2. Great idea making wooden soles. I've kind of considered it, but Barbie's feet are too tiny... maybe Monster High?

I love the slingbacks too. I'm no expert but I think I like the cork unpainted.

    1. Anderson's AP - I think the MH dolls would be good for you to experiment on. The heels on the slingbacks will be wooden too. I think the cork makes them a little too casual. I've decided to test the neutral and the gold and see which looks better.

    1. nykole - Thanks! I need to go make Lammily some shoes because she doesn't have any that will allow her to wear the outfits I'm making for her.

  4. I love the shoes!! I think the gold will be nice and dressy. I also like the idea of painting it natural, but with a gold trim around the bottom and top edge.

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks! I will be using wood, so no painting necessary to keep it natural. I think I have some small gold trim. Maybe I will offer a couple different options so people can choose what's best for their doll.

    1. AG Lanc - Thanks! A clear heel is a great suggestion. Maybe I will incorporate some later on. That's another process to perfect.

    1. Hi Jorge! So nice to hear from you. I understand that life can get in the way of our dollies. Happens to all of us at some point. I can't wait to see your photos of Tenzin. He is a very handsome doll. Hugs and kisses and we are looking forward to seeing you back soon.

  8. Wow, Vanessa, you are getting so good at these shoes. I think it helps when the foot isn't at such an incline which is the case of many of my dolls. (It's why I'm attracted to the feet of the FR Poppy Parker dolls which are wider and swivel to flat or near flat.) The first pair of your shoes look like the real thing. As for the second pair, I'll vote for painting the heel gold. By the way, I like this striped dress you made for Chante. Belting it at the top of the hip looks good!

    1. april - Thanks! As you know, making shoes can be fun after you iron out all the details of what to do. I kind of wish Dasia had interchangeable feet. There are some cute styles that don't work as well on her flat feet. Hopefully today I will get a chance to finish the gold pair.

    1. Cindi - Thanks. I plan to make some shoes for the CI gals. I don't have a CI guy so it would be difficult to make them shoes. Maybe I can just find a pair of CI male replacement feet online.
